Ponder and Delight

Read Psalms 109:1 through 111:10; Romans 7:1–25

Great are the works of the Lord; they are pondered by all who delight in them (Psalm 111:2).

To ponder is to “weigh mentally; to think over; consider... to muse or meditate on.” The Psalmist tells us that those who delight in (take great pleasure in, revel in, love) the great works of the Lord will ponder them.

When did you last ponder the works of the Lord in your life? Have you considered the great miracle of your health recently? You consistently breathe, move, think and feel; your heart beats. Have you meditated on God’s Word—that marvel of a sixty-six-book library written over many hundreds of years? Have you mused about the wonders of creation? Have you “weighed mentally” your response to the Person who has done the great work of your salvation?

When we love someone or find great pleasure in something, we tend to focus our attention on that person or thing. Though we say that we “love God,” in fact we often take His great works for granted.

Challenge for Today: Take a moment today to ponder and delight in the great works of your Lord.
